November 20th, 2024 - OUT NOW - Queering Professionalism: Pitfalls and Possibilities

It was such an honor to work with Dr. Ben Anderson-Nathe on contributing our chapter Professor Drag: Queerness and Mess in the Neoliberal University to Queering Professionalism: Pitfalls and Possibilities. Edited by Adam Davies and Cameron Greensmith.

As described by University of Toronto Press, the book focuses on “neoliberalism and its intersection with systems of oppression, inequalities, and the regulation of queer knowledge and subjectivities [and] provides a distinct contribution to the emerging literature on the regulation and professionalization of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and others marginalized by cisheteronormativity within the ‘helping professions’ and social services.”

October 18th, 2024 - Presentation at Furry Studies 2024: “Being Furry”

It was such a treat to present at the inaugural Furry Studies Conference through the Otterdam Furry Arts Festival with so many familiar furries in this exciting area of study.

September 15th, 2024 - 2024 Queer History Month: Two-Spirit, Trans, and Nonbinary in Academia

I will be speaking at an online event hosted by McGill University’s during for their Queer History Month programming. Along with Dr. Jae Ford and Raiya Taha Thomure, we will be speaking about our experiences as two-spirit, trans, and nonbinary academics.

As described by McGill, this virtual panel discussion, “brings together Two-Spirit, trans, and nonbinary panelists from Turtle Island (North America) to discuss their experiences in academia and share successes and strategies. This Queer History Month 2024 event is open only to students, staff, faculty, and the wider public who self-identify as Two-Spirit, trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, agender, and/or other gender-nonconforming identities.”
